100+ Women Who Care Northern Virginia Presents $3,700 Donation to Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center

IMG_6245FALLS CHURCH, Va. (April 3, 2014) – The members of 100+ Women Who Care Northern Virginia have donated $3,700 to Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, a local nonprofit organization that provides a comprehensive high-quality, early-childhood education program to young children, regardless of their family’s economic resources. The Children’s Center, which was selected by the members of 100+ Women Who Care during the organization’s Feb. 6 meeting, received the donation this week during a check presentation ceremony at the Center located in Falls Church.

“We are grateful to receive the generous donation of $3,700 from 100+ Women Who Care Northern Virginia,” said Kathy Banks, executive director, Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center. “The generosity of its members will help support our ability to provide affordable, full-time early childhood education for children from working families throughout the Fairfax County, Falls Church and neighboring communities regardless of their family’s resources.”

Founded in 1968 by 20 area faith groups to meet the need for affordable childcare, the philosophy of the non-denominational Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center emphasizes the well being of the “whole child,” socially, physically, and academically. The Center’s well-trained teachers each year guide 75 two- to five-year-olds to build essential skills to be conscientious and caring individuals, fully prepared to excel in kindergarten and later in life.
